Cribbage board and lopsided Rush

This is an in progress digital Rush. It's about 2 hours of work, and I think another few hours should finish it up, or at least to the to my satisfaction. For whatever reason, I still haven't been able to get a good likeness of the asshole, so this time I'm doing it digitally and fixing it up until I get a likeness thats up to par.

About a week ago, I spent the afternoon carving a cribbage board. I used to play the game every now and then with my old man, but since I've been at school, I had no cribbage board. So I said to myself, "Self, you should just make a cribbage board." And so I did.

Marc the wood worker?

I got a chance to do a little woodworking last week. My girlfriend Melissa asked me to help her build (or build it while she watched) a plant stand for her wheatgrass, which she's started growing. It was pretty fun, and I haven't had any building projects in a while, so it felt good to be in the wood lab again.

Here's the growing light under the top shelf.

Also I carved a cutesy bear pen for valentines day. It turned out alright, but I could tell it's been a long time since I did any whittling. Sorry about the fuzzy picture.

Right-Wing exaggeration!

Here's a few sketches from drawing class today. I think the one of Rush Limbaugh is my favorite, even though his mouth looks a bit messed up. Other than him, there's a Glen Beck, Papa Bear O'rielly, and lastly Sarah Palin. I missed the likeness on that one, but I like the exaggerations I did a lot better than every drawing I've done of her before.

Freelance sketchy sketch sketch...

Recently I was approached for a little freelance gig. Just a few gag cartoons. Below are the prelim sketches.

The gag that went along with this one is pretty self explanatory. Ironically, this one really hit home since a very similar situation occurred in my studio not more than a week ago. My cat happened to tip over a large cup of water all over my desk and pretty much soaked everything. Life goes on I guess.

I did revisions on all the sketches by now, but I thought I would post these as they are.

Fowl John

This is John. Almost three years ago, he asked me to draw him performing acts of bestiality on a chicken. I laughed it off and forgot about it. But over the years, he has brought it up time and again. Never-the-less, John is going to get his picture in the form of a short graphic novel depicting John's charisma and charm in wooing his poultry target. So far I've got the first four pages done, and more will be on the way soon... if I don't get all cooped up in homework, or am not in too fowl of a mood, as long as I don't get too cocky... or egged on too much... I'll keep the chicken scratch coming.

Old Sketches

Here's a few sketches I dug up from last semester. I was working on a few Cheney and Madoff illustrations that never came to fruition. Also there's a couple skull studies.

My Musical Brother

I have regretfully taken a little hiatus from drawing the last week or two. I did however do a little CD jacket design for my older brother. Him and his brother-in-law just finished up an album they were working on, and needed someone with a little artistic prowess and a lot of time on their hands to come up with something for them. It's a Christian album, and I almost had to turn them down so I wouldn't have to do some really cheesy "Jesus coming through the clouds" sort of thing. Well after some debating with them, I think we reached a compromise.

You can listen to some of their music here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kfd_YCr0caQ
